My mom said to me, "If you don't study, you'll be flipping burgers." That eventually gave me the idea for Five Guys--along with this little hamburger place in northern Michigan where I grew up.
The quality of one's cheeseburger often tends to be a good indicator of the quality of the fast-food establishment, especially if that establishment purports to be a burger chain. So, in an effort to figure out which burger was the fairest of them all, I decided to taste-test the cheeseburgers at eight major fast-food chains. In one day.
Jerry Murrell says it's time for lunch, and he knows exactly the place to go. The 68-year-old founder and chief executive of the brightest star in the restaurant industry jumps into his blue Ford pickup parked at the company's headquarters, a redbrick building in an unremarkable office park hard by Interstate 95 in Lorton, Va.
Along with his sons, Jerry Murrell of Five Guys Burgers and Fries built a 570-store chain that enjoys a cult following.
Grace Dent is bewitched by the dastardly burger wizards at Five Guys and Shake Shack
If you have NOT been to Five Guys Burger and Fries for JUST THAT? Burgers and Fries, you have NOT lived baby!!! Enjoy my review, I had fun putting it together!
A burger place that is new to Las Vegas, but is actually a national chain, is Five Guys Burgers and Fries. If you are ready to wrap your mouth around what is possibly the BEST burger in Vegas, head to one of their 2 locations and prepare yourself for melty cheese and juicy burger goodness!!!
Five Guys is famous for their simple menu: burgers, fries, dogs. That's pretty much it. No milkshakes, no chicken, no salads. I was skeptical, yet impressed when I looked at the menu.
Just like many of my fellow Americans, I am a big fan of lunch. Love it in fact. I am not however a big fan of lines. This dislike has become a problem recently as a brand new Five Guys Burgers & Fries has just opened up down the street. Great food, good price, amazingly long line that seems to move slower than a snail!
Imagine my surprise when I figured out that the answer to my problem was none other than my very own Android device and the brand new Five Guys Burgers & Fries Android app!
When you hear a burger joint is touted as part of the fastest growing chain in America, it makes you curious.
What do they have that could cause such a frenzy?
Everyone has their "go to" when it comes to eating out. Some people, pasta. Others, Pizza (Tonez.. kid orders pizza 4x a week). My go to is always a good old Hamburger and Fries. Nothing beats a big greasy cheeseburger and fries with a nice cold beer. A few months ago Breezy was raving about this new burger joint that opened up in Edmonton called Five Guys. Once I heard "Five Guys", I got pretty excited.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries, an American burger chain established in 1986 by a husband and wife couple from Virginia, has invaded Canada. Sherwood Park is their latest conquest, and St. Albert and Airdrie are next. British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec have already fallen, and I--in the name of research and gluttony--succumbed last week. Three times. All I have to say to other patty pushers out there is, "Be Afraid. Be very afraid. These Guys are a force to be reckoned with."
Five Guys Burgers and Fries may sound pretty scary for a vegan or vegetarian. My friend Joy is here to tell you otherwise. She has been vegetarian for many years. She is an avid runner, animal activist and blogger.
Nestled at the corner of a strip mall at Margarita and Winchester roads, Five Guys Burgers and Fries is one of the Inland Empire's more notable burger joints.
During holiday time, I'm always rushed. All the shopping, time crunches and deadlines give me an appetite. While I like to eat at mom-and-pop, locally owned restaurants, sometimes, you just gotta grab a meal on the go.
So I hurried down the lane, and what to my wondering eyes should appear? The jolly white-and-red checkered signs of Five Guys Burgers and Fries.
Five Guys Burgers & Fries has 2 locations in Greater Vancouver. One is in West Vancouver at Park Royal Mall and the other is in South Surrey at the sprawling Morgan Crossing development. Famous for the 2 things mentioned in their name there is nothing else on Five Guys menu but burgers, fries and things to wash said items down. I visited the Park Royal location a few months before I started writing about food and I thought it would be a good idea to check out the newer location out in South Surrey.
Most of you know that I am a restaurant snob. If not you can see proof HERE.
I've been a huge fan of In-N-Out Burger for several years. To show my support for them, I have shunned Five Guys because I thought it was a rip off of my old favorite.
Then complications started happening for me and my protest. I don't exactly live anywhere near an In-N-Out. Although I do visit whenever my travels allow it. Then Five Guys have started popping up all around our area. The pressure got to me and... I caved. A girl can only be so strong-- alright!
After finding out last night that Five Guys was open a few blocks from home, I whipped out this after noon for a late lunch and The Burger That Changed My Life. Seriously, these 5 guys makes a damn good burger. And bring your bank card, the prices aren't cheap. But you know what? The fresh, quality, ingredients more than make the extra bucks worth it.
I've found out I have something in common with President Obama - and it has nothing to do with politics.
We've both been to Five Guys Burgers and Fries, although not the same one. He went to a D.C.-area Five Guys last year. (The trip made the news, a diligent journalist even reporting on what he ordered on his cheeseburger - lettuce, tomato, jalapeno peppers and mustard, if you care.).
When it comes to fast food and "fast casual" restaurants my standards aren't usually very high...probably because I've been let down so many times.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries has always been the exception. This isn't the first time I've chronicled my love and passion for Five Guys, however my visit to Five Guys today radically changed my entire view on their restaurant and what we should expect from every restaurant we visit.
It seems like the lost art of the burger joint has been lost on today's consumers. These days, people seem content to jump to the nearest fast food restaurant for the newest "Angus" burger or the newest quadruple-decker hamburger patty with bacon, blue cheese and jalapenos to come down the pike. If it's big enough, has enough stuff on it and comes to us in 15 seconds or less, it must be a pretty good burger.
But the burger joint is so much more than speed and stuff...
Today you will find " 365 Things to Do in Cincinnati" at the Five Guys Burgers and Fries on Tylersville Road (West Chester). I've heard great things about Five Guys and, being the burger lover that I am, I finally made the stop. And I will say that Five Guys Burgers lives up to all the hype.
Did you ever get hungry for a really, really, really good hamburger? Not a fancy meal, but just a fresh, hot, juicy burger? Well, I found a wonderful place today.
I have a serious love for hamburgers. I could eat a hamburger, pretty much, any day of the week. The burgers at Five Guys Burgers and Fries are near perfect in my book, and it doesn't hurt that they are located right outside the doors of my favorite movie theatre in the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries finally opened on Jan. 12 in Westport. The long wait was worth it, as Five Guys serves nothing but fantastic quality.
From the mid-80's up to now, they serve their loyal customers with a smile on their face and an apron around their waist.
With open campus giving teenagers the freedom they desire during lunchtime, many people are looking for a cheap, filling and fast lunch for the minimal amount of time.
If you're a burger fan and you haven't hit up Five Guys, do it now. This Virginia-based chain has elevated fast-food burgers and fries to a new level of quality.
Burgers rule at Pittsburgh Mills' newest eatery: Five Guys Burgers and Fries.
The fries come in a close second.
When this award-winning Washington D.C.-based chain opened in Clifton earlier in the year we stopped by to try it but the queues were out the door and we didn't feel like waiting. We've tried to get into the restaurant several times since but it always seems to be hopping.
